Press 1 or say "yes" for, dead

8:45am

[ring!]

Me: Hello?

Husband: Hi! Is everything okay?

Me: Um...yeah… I’m making breakfast [and you KNOW I HATE when people call me in the morning!]

Husband: So did you sleep enough last night?

Me: Yeah I guess [having trouble sleeping lately]

Husband: Guess what we did last night?

Me: [I was good for me too, but we don't need to talk about it] I have no clue.

Husband: We left the garage door open AND the inside door UN-locked.

Me: Shhhhhh-IT!

Husband: Yeah, I saw your purse and my laptop were still there so I figured it was okay. Then I searched the entire house just in case someone was waiting to kill you. I even looked under the guest bed and in every nook and cranny in the basement. AND I decided not to wake you up to tell you all this.

Me: Good idea [since I would have gone to work at 6am in my Pj’s to flee the killers!] So is that why you are calling me? To make sure I’m not dead?

Husband: yeah… kinda.

Me: And what if I was all dead and couldn’t pick up the phone?

Husband: Um, I’m not sure… I didn’t think about that.

Haha, well at least he searched the house for killers AND called to make sure you were alive. 2 points for effort, right?

I've also had the same manhunt in your house when you were on your honeymoon. There are lots of hiding places. I'm glad to see you're not dead.

I'm a new poster - but been reading your blog for awhile...found it through NieNie. Thanks for sharing. This cracked me up!

Eeeek. Anytime I wake up and realize the door has been unlocked all night (which isn't often because I am very OCD and check it about twenty times before I go to bed) I count my blessings that I was not murdered in my sleep.
